Helen E. Kinney, age 94, a resident of the Quincy Retirement Home and formerly of 67 Homestead Dr. Greencastle, Pa. died at 8:10 A.M. Sunday, May 31, 2009 in the home.

Born March 6, 1915 in West Grove, Pa., she was the daughter of the late J. Ross and Marion (Hambleton) Ewing.

Mrs. Kinney graduated from Avon Grove High School in West Grove and attended Duke University. She graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School Of Nursing in Philadelphia, Pa. She worked for the State Of Pennsylvania as a Public Health Nurse and then was a nurse in the Greencastle-Antrim School District. She last worked for the Franklin County Learning Center in Chambersburg. Mrs. Kinney was a resident of Greencastle since 1956 and was a member of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church for 53 years.

She and her husband, John E. Kinney were married November 21, 1942 in Blytheville, AK. She enjoyed being with her family.

Surviving family in addition to her husband are one daughter Susan Martin, Tucson AZ., two sons, Ross Kinney, Brattleboro, VT., Jay Kinney, South Bend IN. and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters Mary Ewing, Ruth Allen and brothers Robert Ewing, Charles Ewing, William Ewing and Agnew Ewing.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 4 at 11:00 A.M. from the Greencastle Presbyterian Church 57 West Baltimore St. Greencastle with Revs. John Ile and Taylor Camerer officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Greencastle Presbyterian Church Organ Fund 57 West Baltimore St. Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
