Helen Marie (Diehl) Gorsuch
Mrs. Helen Marie Diehl Gorsuch, 92, of Hagerstown, died early Friday morning, June 8, 2012, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Willard Gorsuch, who preceded her in death in 1980.
Born April 4, 1920, in Everett, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Walter Eugene and Lulu Mae Pittman Diehl.
She graduated from Everett High School in 1938, and continued with beauty school. She operated Helen''s Beauty Shop on North Spring Street, Everett, for many years, and upon moving to Hagerstown, worked with Carol Conrad and her staff.
Helen was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ State Line, Pa., and was also affiliated with the "Willing Workers" of the church. She will be fondly remembered for her efforts that afforded the church its annex, and her raisin-filled cookies that helped make that possible.
She is survived by her children, Linda Tewell of Hagerstown, Terry Gorsuch and wife, Kathy Schroeder, of Homeland, Calif., and Katrina Newcomb and husband, Bill, of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Craig, Krissy, Shawn, Melissa, Melinda and Michelle; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Mildred Crumbacker of Hagerstown, Ina Koontz of Wellsville, Ohio, Marylou Tompkins of Indianapolis, Ind., Winnie Callihan of Strasburg, Va. and Ronald Diehl of Chambersburg, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Pa., on Wednesday, June 13, from 9 to 10 a.m. The funeral service will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Her nephew, the Rev. Rodney E. Spade, will officiate. Interment will be in the Everett Cemetery, Everett, Wednesday at 3 p.m.
