Helen L. (Richards) Clever, age 81, a resident of Hearthstone Retirement Home of Waynesboro, PA and formerly of Greencastle, PA died at 3:32 AM Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in the retirement home.
Born February 2, 1933 in Ayre Township, Fulton County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Mary Etta (Engels) Richards.
She married Kenneth LeRoy Clever on November 8, 1959 in Myersville, MD. He died on August 29, 1984.
Helen along with her husband owned the former Pizza and Hoagie Shop in Greencastle and she last worked for a number of years as a waitress at the former Antrim House Restaurant of Greencastle.
She attended the Trinity Lutheran Church of Greencastle. Helen’s interests included painting, reading, cross stitchery and sitting on her front porch of her Greencastle home.
Surviving family are several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters Mildred McFadden and Genevia Carnell and a brother Lee Richards.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 10 at 11:00 AM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. William DeHass officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. There will be a viewing at the funeral home one hour before the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Trinity Lutheran Church 1186 Jason Dr. Greencastle, PA 17225.
