Hazel B. Sanda, age 98 a resident of Quincy Home, Quincy, PA and formerly of Little Orleans, MD and Greencastle, PA died at 5:15 P.M. on Monday, June 15, 2009 in the nursing home.
Born, January 15, 1911 in Amaranth, PA she was the daughter of the late Scott and Emma (Mellott) Smith.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Greencastle, PA. She enjoyed sewing and being with her family.
Her first husband was the late Freddie Smith and her second husband was the late Francis Sanda.
Surviving family are five daughters, Ruby (Smith) Miller of Waynesboro, PA, Jean Garton of Bel Air, MD, Mae Northcraft of Greencastle, PA, Ocy Jachimski of Egg Harbor, NJ and Carla Sanda of Denver, CO. Two sons, Kelly Smith of Pittsville, MD and Chester Smith of Cresaptown, MD. Twenty One Grandchildren, Thirty Four Great-Grandchildren and Seven Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA with Rev. Stacy A. Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Piney Plains United Methodist Church Cemetery, Little Orleans, MD. The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
