Hazel M. Myers
Hazel Marie (Ward) Myers, age 84 of State Line, PA passed away Monday November 9, 2015 at her home surrounded by family. Born July 1, 1931 in Big Pool, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Leo Henry and Amy Ann (Drury) Ward.
Hazel was a homemaker, loving wife and mother and had worked at E.J. Fennel, Dorbee’s and at Gibney’s and Rosemary’s Florists among others. She was a skilled crafter, seamstress, cook, wise woman and advice giver, self-taught painter, among her many talents and abilities.
She was a longtime member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in State Line where she was a leader of and worked with the Willing Workers for many years.
Her legacy of love will be fondly remembered by her husband of almost 61 years and whom she married in 1954, Roy C. “Jack” Myers, her daughter Rebecca A. (John) Toms, granddaughter Chylle Marie Toms, all of State Line, PA, “grandson” Kurtis Ray Benchoff of Greencastle and grand dog Maggie Mae Papillion. She is also survived by three brothers, Clyde Ward of Sharpsburg, MD, Alfred Ward of Smithsburg, MD and Harry Ward of Keedysville, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by six sisters, Mildred Ward, Molly Marshall, Blanche Violet, Sally Milburn, Julia Myers and Minnie Ward; and three brothers, Earl Ward, James Ward and John Ward.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 12 at 1:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Irene Pouliot officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home this evening November 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. The family requests the omission of flowers.
