Haven Eugene Keller

August 3, 1926 — March 8, 2017

Haven Eugene Keller, age 90, of Eastside Dr. Greencastle, PA went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday afternoon March 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born August 3, 1926 in Stephens City, VA, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Woodie Elizabeth (Biller) Keller. He married Evelyn M. (Yeates) Keller on December 5, 1947.

Haven enlisted into the US Navy serving during World War II in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged in 1945. He retired from the Western Maryland Railroad after 26 years and then worked at Fairchild Aircraft Co. working on the A-10 Thunderbolt II (Warthog).

Haven was an avid beekeeper involved in various beekeeper associations including being the founder, former president and life member of the Franklin County Beekeepers Association. He was a graduate of the Penn State University Beekeepers Program and was involved in the University of Maryland Beekeepers Research Lab studying honey bee diseases.

He was a charter member of the Two Top Ruritan and founder and President of the Montgomery Township Citizens Association. Haven was a member of the Hagerstown Bible Church having served on several church committees and served on the Board of Camp Tohiglo. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida during the winter months and also enjoyed doing wood working and gardening. He was a true patriot and loved his country.

Surviving family in addition to his loving wife of 69 years are a daughter Teresa Marie Kropka  and husband Richard “Rick “of Hagerstown, a son, Haven Lynn Keller and wife Trudy of Hagerstown, a daughter Trudy Ann Smith and husband Mark of Greencastle, seven grandchildren Amy Dunne, Erica Ritter, Lydia Dugger, Nathan Keller, Andrea McCauley, Joshua Smith, Jessica Fortier, twelve great-grandchildren and one sister Juanita Kitt of Pennsylvania.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Alvin Keller and a sister Vallie Bailey.

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 13 at 11:00 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Dale Carver officiating. Burial will be in the Welsh Run Church of the Brethren Cemetery with military honors provided by theChambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Hagerstown Bible Church 203 Summit Ave. Hagerstown, MD 21740.
