Harry Frederick Masser, age 96, died at 1:20 P.M. Monday June 9, 2008 in Manor Care Health Services of Chambersburg, PA. He was a resident of Providence Place of Chambersburg since 2006 and had lived at 225 Apple Dr., Greencastle, PA. for 44 years.
Born April 4, 1912 in Lebanon, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles and Lydia (Snyder) Masser.
He and his wife, Iva (Coukell) Masser were married November 1, 1935 in High Bridge, NJ. She died on February 27, 1999.
Mr. Masser was a project engineer at Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, MD, retiring in 1977 after 35 years of employment. He also worked at Taylor Wharton Iron & Steel Plant in High Bridge, NJ from 1930-1941. He was a graduate of the High Bridge High School, High Bridge, NJ class of 1930 and attended Churchman''s Business School.
He was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Greencastle, PA and former active member of the High Bridge Methodist Church, High Bridge, NJ, where he was a Sunday School Superintendent.
Mr. Masser delivered meals for the Meals on Wheels program for many years. He was the last of his immediate family.
Surviving family is one son, John F. Masser, a resident of Providence Place of Chambersburg, PA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Joseph Masser and one sister Gertrude Masser Studer.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 12 at 2:00 P.M.from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA with Rev. James E. Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Grace United Church of Christ, 128 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, PA 17225.
