Harry K. Horst, age 91 of 3837 Harold Place Greencastle, Pa. died unexpectedly at 12:30 A.M. Saturday, December 8, 2007 in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born August 6, 1916 in Chambersburg, Pa. he was the son of the late Jacob and Anna (Kyler) Horst.
Mr. Horst worked for many years for the Western Maryland Railroad and then the Chessie System Railroad in Hagerstown. He was a life long member of the State Line United Methodist Church where he had served on various committees. He also was a member of the Mercersburg Sportsman Association and the Greencastle Sportsman Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His first wife, Kathryn G. Horst died in 1994 and his second wife Doris Hollingshead Horst died on October 25, 2003.
Surviving family are:
One son, Richard H. Horst of Greencastle, Pa.
One sister, Mary Keller, Maugansville, Md. and one brother Guy Horst of Chambersburg, Pa.
Three step-daughters
Two grandchildren, Four great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: an infant son Donald Horst in 1940, a daughter Carolyn Junkins in 1996, four brothers, Paul Horst, Charles Horst, Clyde Horst and James Horst and two sisters Amy Hartman and Ellen Klicklighter.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 12 at 10:30 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Dwaine Krebs officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M.
