Harry Jacob "Jake" Gsell

Mr. H. Jacob "Jake" Gsell, Sr., 83, of Mercersburg, died Tuesday morning, June 5, 2005, at Manor Care, Chambersburg. He was the husband of Mrs. Grace DeLorse Monn Gsell, his wife of 64 years.
Born June 29, 1928, in Waynecastle, he was a son of the late Clyde Wegley and Edna Mae Rebuck Gsell.
Jake was employed with Reese''s Rendering Company, Greencastle, for thirty years.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Mercersburg,
Surviving, besides his wife, are his children Louise A. Spitzer and husband Thomas of California, Harry J. Gsell and wife Cindy of St. Thomas, Melvin D. Gsell and wife Mary G. of Greencastle, Mary B. Kay and husband Douglas of Mercersburg, and Susan K. Hallett and husband Gene of Shippensburg; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; as well as siblings, Gene Gsell and wife Marie of Florida, Rose G. Virts of Rohersville, Ray Gsell and wife Barb of Illinois, Paul Gsell and wife Mary E. of Shippensburg and Lynn Gsell and wife Jayleene of Zullinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jake was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Norma Y. Gsell; and brother-in-law John Virts.
The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, on Monday, June 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be from the funeral home on Tuesday, June 12, at 10:00 AM. His pastor, Rev. Matthew S. Hoover, will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 129 East Seminary Street, Mercersburg, Pennsylvania 17236. Contributions will benefit the church choir.
