Harold G. Young, 81, of Providence Place, and formerly of Shade Gap, Pa and Greencastle, Pa went home to be with the Lord on Saturday December 31, 2011.
Born in Peters Township on February 3, 1930, he was the son of the late J. Chalmers and Ruth (Graybill) Young of Welsh Run.
He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor R. (Shafer) Young in 2008. They were married 57 years.
He was a 1947 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. Harold was last employed with Mack Trucks in Hagerstown for over 30 years, and prior to that at Maugansville Elevator & Lumber Company. Harold was also a custom cabinet maker in his early married life. He served two terms as Antrim Township Supervisor in the 1980''s. He enjoyed hunting big game animals and had a love for early muscle cars, especially 1967-69 Camaro''s that he and his wife bought and sold parts for over 25 years.
Surviving family are; sons Carroll (wife Donna) and Wayne (wife Tina); five grandchildren, Amy, Angie, Shane, Shanelle and Dustin; seven great-grandchildren, Damian, Curtis, Madison, Ava, Ethan, Cody, and Tatum. He was preceded in death by a brother, J. Chalmers, Jr. in 2006.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday January 4, 2012 at 11:00A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA with Pastor Leon Yoder officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery of Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home in Greencastle. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in his memory to Alzheimer''s Association, Team Providence Place, 2085 Wayne Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
