Harold D. Rowland

Harold D. Rowland, age 83 of 30 Baumgardner Dr. Greencastle, Pa. died at 9:51 P.M. Tuesday November 25, 2008 in the Quincy Retirement Home.
Born June 20, 1925 in Reid, Maryland, he was the son of the late Harry D. and Bertha Ann (Haugh) Rowland.
He had worked for 28 years for the U.S. Postal Service at the Greencastle Post Office.
His wife, June B. (Beckner) Rowland died on January 31, 1991.

Mr. Rowland was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle where he was a member of the Men''s Bible Class. He also was a member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 and the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373, both of Greencastle. Mr. Rowland was also a member of the Greencastle Sportsman Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and archery.

He was a 1943 graduate of Greencastle High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving family are one son, Brian D. Rowland of Greencastle, Pa., twin granddaughters, Sage and Madelyn Rowland, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
A graveside service for immediate family will be held at the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg with the Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. There will be no public viewing. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Memorial Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 N. Washington St. Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
