Harold N. Moats, age 85, formerly of Clay Hill, PA, passed from this earth to be with Jesus on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 24, 1939, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Horace N. and Kathryn V. Dillon Moats of Waynesboro, PA.
Harold was a 1959 graduate of the former Quincy High School. He began his career as a machinist at Landis Tool Company in Waynesboro, PA, then to Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD, and lastly at Ingersoll-Rand in Shippensburg, PA. Harold went to work as a truck driver for Clouse, hauling milk; then he drove a school bus for Greencastle-Antrim School District and lastly a water truck for Crider’s water service, retiring in 2021. A “Jack of all trades”, Harold was vary mechanically inclined, he enjoyed fixing things, working on mowers, engines, and always had a project to work on. He also enjoyed getting out to talk to people, he loved the Lord, and he liked going to church at Four Square Church in Greencastle, where he was a member and attended regularly.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Bonita “Bonnie” Angle Moats, whom he married on February 11, 1969; his son, Timothy N. Moats of Ft. Loudon, PA; and his sister, Alice Fritz (husband Richard) of Smithsburg, MD.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 11 AM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225, where Pastor Harry Miller will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Four Square Church, 236 Tyrone St., Greencastle, PA, 17225.
