Harold A. Leckron, age 80, and a resident of the Penn Hall Assisted Living Center Chambersburg since August 2009 and formerly of 1565 Hykes Rd Greencastle died at 10:20 A.M. Thursday April 21, 2011 in the Hershey Medical Center Hershey, PA. following a brief illness.

Born September 16, 1930 in Greencastle, PA., he was the son of the late Nelson Russell and Lillian Celeste (Byers) Leckron.

He retired from Fort Ritchie in 1994 having worked as an accountant and had previously worked at Grove Mfg. Shady Grove. In his earlier life he worked at the former A&P Store and Western Maryland Railroad, both of Hagerstown.

Harold was a member of the former Trinity United Brethren Church of State Line from 1930 - 1996 and was currently a member of the Otterbein United Brethren Church of Greencastle where he was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class.

At Trinity U B Church, he served as a Sunday School teacher, superintendent of Sunday School from 1952-1975 and was a member of the Trinity Male Quartette and the Men''s Brotherhood of Missions. Harold also was s a member of the Middleburg Mason Dixon Historical Society, life member of the State Line Ruritan Club and had been an active member of the Franklin County Sunday School Association.

He was a 1948 graduate of Greencastle High School. He and his wife, Joanne E. (Flory) Leckron were married February 25, 1951. She died on August 1, 2001.

Surviving family are two daughters Donna M. (Mrs. Larry) Shindle, Greencastle, Debbie K, (Mrs. Lynn) Michalsky, Waynesboro, three sons, H. Dennis and wife Becky Leckron, Gahanna, Ohio, Daryl F. Leckron and wife Wendy Whitcomb, Columbia, MD., Curtis L. and wife Lori Leckron, State Line, PA., brother Roy F. Leckron, Waynesboro, two sisters, Myrtle L. Hartle, Hagerstown, Rosalie C. Hykes, Greencastle and eleven grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers John E. Leckron and Earl L. Leckron.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 26 at 10:30 A.M. from the Otterbein United Brethren Church 146 Leitersburg St. Greencastle with Rev. David G. Rawley officiating. Burial will be in the Beautiful View Cemetery Washington County, MD. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Building Fund of Otterbein United Brethren Church 146 Leitersburg St. Greencastle, PA. 17225.
