Harold G. “Hal” Davis, 91, died Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Mease Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. Born Feb. 9, 1924, in Mercersburg, PA, Mr. Davis was the son of the late Walter Scott and Florence (Mowrey) Davis. He served 3 years in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Darla Vogel Davis, Palm Harbor, FL; daughter and son-in law Darlene and Mark Parvin in Pinellas Park, FL; daughter Deborah Davis Zibolsky of Milwaukee, WI; brothers Gerald Shipp of Chambersburg, PA and Norman Davis of Greencastle, PA.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Melius and Helen Oberholzer and two brothers, Carl Davis and James Scott Davis.

Mr. Davis is retired from the U.S. State Department, Washington DC, in 1980. Since retirement he has resided in Hilton Head Island, SC, Pinehurst, NC, and currently Palm Harbor, FL. Mr. Davis was active in tennis all his life and served as a USTA tennis official for many years.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9 at 10:30 AM from the Greencastle Presbyterian Church 57 West Baltimore St. Greencastle with Rev. Doug Beltzner officiating. There will be no viewing but the family will greet friends at the church one half hour before the service on Saturday. Burial with military graveside honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg on Saturday at 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, North Hampton, MA 01061.
