Hal E. Myers, age 77, of Shady Grove, PA, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 4, 1947, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Otha and Kathleen Rotz Myers.
Mr. Myers was a 1965 Graduate of the Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School. As a teenager, Hal worked at Earl’s Market in State Line. He went on to serve honorably in the U. S. Navy from 1967-1970, where he was proud to be part of the commissioning of the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy. After the Navy, Hal went to work at Grove Manufacturing until he purchased a Rain Soft Water Treatment Franchise Sales and Service. He was then offered a position with Rain Soft Corporate Division in Chicago, where he became part of their international sales team, enabling him to be able to travel to many countries throughout, Asia, Russia, Scandinavia, the Middle East, and Europe. In “semi” retirement, Hal continued to advise and consult at many Rain soft Dealerships, while also working from the Winchester office as recently as three weeks ago. Hal was a former member of the Shady Grove Ruritan and the Shady Grove Improvement Association. He was elected to the Greencastle-Antrim School Board during the tenures of Dr. Pascal and Duff Rearick and again he was elected in 2021. Hal enjoyed hunting, watching NASCAR, Gun Smoke, Wagon Train, and Fox News.
Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Nina Gearhart Myers, whom he married on November 6, 1982; four children, Amy M. Semler (husband Mark) of Greencastle, PA, Jennifer L. Mumau (husband Justin) of Greencastle, PA, Wendy L. Martin (husband Bobby) of Shady Grove, PA, and Jake E. Mummert (wife Hannah) of Waynesboro, PA; 12 grandchildren, Sarah, Nick, Jacob, Kristen, Andrew, Lacey, Logan, Levi, Karlie, Luke, Chet, and Gage; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Barton Myers (wife Diann) of Greencastle, PA; and his beloved fur babies, Tommy, Muunch, and Rebba. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Jason Myers.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225. A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
