Grace Peckman Wingert, age 96 of Penn Hall-Menno Haven, Chambersburg, PA was called home to be with her Savior and Lord on Friday, August 19, 2016. She was the wife of Avery M. Wingert to whom she was married on April 20, 1946.  Grace dearly loved Jesus, her Savior and dearly loved her husband, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Born May 24, 1920 near Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of late John S. Peckman and Ruie Hoover Peckman.

Grace was a member of the Hollowell Brethren In Christ Church for over 69 years and was involved in many activities of the church.  For a number of years she served as a Deacon's wife, a Sunday School teacher of teenagers and in later years taught the Young Married Class. She and her husband served the church together as youth directors and were involved with Sunday evening services and weekly activities. Grace and Avery were coaches of the Bible quiz teams. Together, they also served on mission committees of the church and visited mission fields in Peru, Haiti and Africa.  She also taught Good News Clubs for Child Evangelism Fellowship.

In addition to her husband Avery of 70 years, surviving family are two sons, Ray Wingert and wife Penny of Bend, OR, Dwight Wingert and wife Barbara of Hagerstown, MD, three daughters, Linda Carlson, Seminole, FL, Norma Fries and husband John, Sarasota, FL, Beverly Wingert, St. Petersburg, FL, eight grandchildren; Jennifer Crane, David Kline, Amanda Wingert, Kimberlee Ballis, Matthew Gross, Bradley Fries, Megan Fries, Justin Fries and nine great grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Miriam Peckman of Shook Home in Chambersburg and Wilma Young and husband, Clyde of Chambersburg, a brother, John Slick and wife Fannie of Chambersburg, sisters-in-law, Lois Peckman of Providence Place in Chambersburg, Betty Peckman of Lititz, PA  and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Lester Peckman and Mervin Peckman, an infant sister Mildred Louise Peckman, a sister- in-law Pauline Wingert Peckman and a nephew Gerald Peckman.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 24 at 10:30 AM at the Hollowell Brethren In Christ Church 14807 Hollowell Church Rd. Waynesboro with Rev. Gerald Wingert of Mechanicsburg, PA  officiating. A viewing will be held at the Hollowell Brethren in Christ Church on Tuesday August 23 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM and one hour before the service on Wednesday. Graveside services will be at the Air Hill Cemetery Chambersburg at the convenience of the family.
