Glen G. Statler, age 98 a resident of Providence Place Chambersburg and formerly of Statler Rd. Greencastle died at 4:20 P.M. Thursday February 25, 2010 in Providence Place.
Born February 28, 1911 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry D. and Annie (Barnes) Statler.
He was a life long farmer. Glen was a member of the Greencastle Church Of The Brethren. He enjoyed hunting and visiting with friends and family.
He and his wife Mildred E. (Heckman) Statler were married June 14, 1930. She died August 20, 1996. He was the last of his immediate family
Surviving family are two daughters, Geraldine S. (Wife of Howard) Witter, Mercersburg, Doris E. (Wife of Donald) Miller, Chambersburg., one son Ronald E. (Husband of Sonia) Statler, Greencastle, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter Linzi Smith and fourteen brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 2 at 11:00 A.M. from the Greencastle Church Of The Brethren 36 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Leon Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Greencastle Church Of The Brethren 36 S.
