Gladys H. (Hassinger) Paden, age 92 a resident of the Penn Hall Nursing Center of Chambersburg, PA for the last two weeks and formerly of 148 East Baltimore St. Greencastle died at 9:35 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in the nursing center.
Born April 28, 1921 in Millheim, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sadie (Rhoades) Hassinger. Her husband Jay A. Paden died on October 9, 1980.

Gladys was a clerk at the former Barkdoll’s Quality Market in Greencastle from 1962- 1993. She worked part time in the local tax collectors offices of Charles “Whitey” Barkdoll, Janie Martin, Peggy Dickson and Sue Myers. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greencastle where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women.

Gladys also was a member of the Greencastle VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Greencastle-Antrim Loyal Daughters and she took pavilion reservations for the Jerome King Playground Association of Greencastle for many years. She was a 1939 graduate of Liverpool High School in Liverpool, PA

Surviving family are one daughter Sandy Shoop and husband Mike of Hagerstown, MD, one grandson Michael A. Hovis of Boerne, TX, two step-grandsons, Michael E. Shoop and David L. Shoop, two great grandsons, four step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 24 at 11:00 AM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Stacy A. Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6 – 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the First United Methodist Church 45 N. Washington St. Greencastle, PA 17225 or to Lutheran Home Care And Hospice 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17201. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.zimmermanfh.com
