Gladys B. Gipe

Gladys B. (Boone) Gipe, age 88 of Buchanan Trail East, Shady Grove, PA, died at 11:05 P.M. on Friday, October 8, 2010 in her home.

Born September 29, 1922 in Franklin County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Henry E. and Alice (Brubaker) Boone.

She and her husband, Andrew G. "Andy" Gipe were married January 1, 1944 in Franklin County, VA.

She was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church at Browns Mill.

Gladys was a constant support of her husband, Andrew, who operated Gipe''s Garage in Shady Grove for over 57 years. Gladys especially enjoyed gardening and lawn work and fondly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are family are two sons, Ronald G. (husband of Arlene M.) Gipe of Chambersburg, PA, Donald B. (husband of Sue P.) Gipe of Covington, OH; four sisters, Lucille Benedict, Irene Hess, Alice "Doley" Lesher all of Franklin County, PA, and Doris Ann Shively of Franklin County, VA; one brother, Clarence Boone of Franklin County, VA; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Reece and Virginia Dare Lynch and six brothers, Glenn Boone, Henry Ward Boone, Harold Boone, Daniel Boone, David Boone and Russell Boone.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. from the Browns Mill Meeting House, Grindstone Hill Rd., Chambersburg, PA with the Home Brethren assisted by Elder Donald Hess officiating. Burial will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery, Kauffman, PA. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 P.M. & 6-8 P.M. at the Browns Mill Meeting House. The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Lutheran Home Care And Hospice, 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17202. Arrangements are being handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, Greencastle.
