Gladys Burger Gayman, age 87 of 227 Dickinson Ave. Waynesboro, Pa. and formerly of 12624 Molly Pitcher Hwy. Greencastle, Pa. died at 10:15 P.M. Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in the home of her son Fred and daughter-in-law Sylvia Gayman of Waynesboro.

Born August 7, 1920 in Greencastle, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Milford and Clara (Baker) Burger.

She was a homemaker and in 1997 she retired from Sunnyway Foods of Greencastle. In her earlier years, she worked at the former GEM Garment Co. of Greencastle.

Mrs. Gayman was a member of the Greencastle Church Of The Brethren where she was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the National A.A.R.P.

She was a 1937 graduate of Greencastle High School. She and her husband, Charles C. Gayman were married in June 1943. He died on November 20, 1970.

Surviving family are:

Two daughters, Karen I. Grosh of West Bend Wisconsin and Mary K. Ehrhart, of Greencastle, Pa.

Four sons, C. Robert Gayman and Fred B. Gayman, both of Waynesboro, Pa., Floyd B. Gayman and Lynn B. Gayman, both of Greencastle, Pa.

Sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother Wilbur Burger and by a great-grandson Brody Gayman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 17 at 10:30 A.M. from the Greencastle Church of The Brethren 36 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Leon Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Sunday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Antietam Humane Society 8513 Lyons Rd. Waynesboro, Pa. 17268 or to Hospice Of The Good Shepherd 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
