Gerald J. Zisa, Sr.

Gerald J. Zisa, age 94, of Greencastle died peacefully Friday, December 30th, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Born September 26, 1928, in Paterson, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Felice and Emmanuela (Pluchino) Zisa, and brother of five siblings who preceded him in death.  On June 18th, 1955, he married the late Eleanor (Laurito) Zisa, who preceded him in death on August 3rd, 2014.

Gerald served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He worked as an engineer for Mack Trucks for over 30 years, retiring in 1991.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 373 in Greencastle, a former board member of Bulldog Federal Credit Union, and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waynesboro.

He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, playing cards, watching movies, talking to them about the latest tech trends. He enjoyed traveling (especially to Myrtle Beach) and participating in activities at the Greencastle Senior Center. Through his passion for aviation, he was a volunteer at the Hagerstown airport.

He is survived by two daughters Patricia Carney and husband Brian of Sterling, VA, Mary Jean Silvis and husband Doug of Mechanicsburg, PA, five sons Gerald Zisa Jr, John Zisa and Steven Zisa all of Greencastle, Michael Zisa of Sterling, VA, Robert Zisa and wife Stacy of Hagerstown, MD.   Cherished grandfather of Kyle, Erin, Kara, Eddie, Kelly, Hanna, Sean, Olivia and 5 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 5th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 North Broad St. Waynesboro, PA.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the St. Andrew Catholic Church Cemetery in Waynesboro.
