Gary G. Gembe, age 76 of East Side Dr. Greencastle went home to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday afternoon December 4, 2014 at his home.
Born November 6, 1938 in York, PA, he was the son of the late Hubert and Bertha (Gladfelter) Gembe. He married Nancy L. (Neuhaus) Gembe on April 1, 1961.
Gary had worked in the commercial printing business for over 50 years and served as President and Owner of Graphics Universal of Greencastle from 1975 – 2007.
He was a member of the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce, former President and member of the Greencastle-Antrim Area Development Corporation and served as a board member of the Grove Medical Center.
Gary was a charter member of the original Calvary Bible Church of Greencastle formed and pastored by the late Pastor Glen A. Miller. He served the church in many capacities and was a faithful member.
Gary graduated in 1956 from Manchester High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He enjoyed going and supporting his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities they were involved with. His hobbies and interests included hunting, golf, classic cars, sports and organizing and going on many mission trips to Central America.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are one daughter Nalisa Gembe of Greencastle, two sons; Gregory Gembe and wife Erica of Greencastle, Garon Gembe and wife Julie of Greencastle; eight grandchildren, Jade Dunhour, Austin Dunhour, Bryan Gembe, Mason Gembe, Riley Gembe, Jaren Gembe, Jordan Gembe, Jerrick Gembe; two sisters, Linda Baker and husband Jack of York, PA, Brenda Weirich and husband Nevin of Manchester, PA and one brother Donald Gembe of Manchester, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Jeffery Gembe.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 8 at 10:00 AM at the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church 24 East Kauffman Road Chambersburg, PA with Pastors Herman Fisler and Rick Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church on Sunday December 7 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and on Monday one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Hagerstown Rescue Mission P.O. Box 685 Hagerstown, MD 21741-0685 or to Child Evangelism Fellowship 45 S.
