Garry R. Miller, age 54 of 5905 Snider Rd. St. Thomas, Pa. died at 4:30 A.M. Monday May 5, 2008 in his home. He had been in failing health the past year and critically ill the last two weeks.

Born November 8, 1953 in Waynesboro, Pa. he was the son of Charles R. Miller of Shady Grove, Pa. and the late Norma Jean (Bear) Miller who died on April 20, 2008.

He was employed for 33 years at Letterkenny Army Depot of Chambersburg. Mr. Miller was a member of the West Side Brethren In Christ Church of Chambersburg, former member of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373 of Greencastle and currently was a member of the St. Thomas American Legion Post #612. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict having served on the USS Newport News and he received the Vietnam Campaign and Service medals, combat action ribbon and navy unit commendation.

He also was a member of the St. Thomas Sportsman Club and was involved in boy scouting for many years having earned his Eagle Scout Award with Troop #95 of Shady Grove. His hobbies and interests included hunting, fishing, playing softball, traveling, reading and being with his grandchildren.

Mr. Miller was a 1971 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.

He and his wife, Cynthia A. (Young) Miller were married on February 14, 1976 in Hagerstown, Md.

Surviving family in addition to his father and wife are:

Daughter, Johanna J. Cordell of Chambersburg and a son, Garry W. Miller of Pittsboro, N.C.

Sister, Tina M. Richmond, Hillsborough, N.C.

Twin brother, Larry W. Miller, Quincy, Pa. and brother Dennis R. Miller, Raleigh, N.C.

Two grandchildren, Thomas Seville and Jaclyn Cordell, both of Chambersburg

One Uncle, Wilbur Bear, of Greencastle, Pa.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday May 8 at 4:00 P.M. from the West Side Brethren In Christ Church 2665 Lincoln Way West Chambersburg with Pastor James Sollenberger officiating. There will be no public viewing or interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the West Side Brethren In Christ Church 2665 Lincoln Way West Chambersburg, Pa. 17202 or to the Shady Grove Boy Scout Troop #95 C/O Shady Grove Ruritan - Jerome Harness, 2372 Buchanan Trail West Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
