G. Margaretta "Maggie" Williams

Miss G. Margaretta "Maggie" Williams, 92, of Greencastle, died early Monday afternoon, November 26, 2012, at Menno Haven of Chambersburg.

Born December 8, 1919, in Greencastle, she was a daughter of the late Melanchton Santee "Pal" and Lucy Pauline Humelsine Williams. She graduated Greencastle High School in 1937; and Indiana State Teachers College (now IUP) in 1941 with a BS in Business Education. Then while teaching attended Temple University graduating in 1952, with a Masters of Education degree.

Ms. Williams was a teacher of Business Education at Greencastle High School from 1941-1966; and Counselor at Greencastle-Antrim High School from 1966 until retirement in 1976.

She was active with her church, First United Methodist Church, Greencastle. She joined the church in 1930, and has served as Financial Secretary, church Treasurer, with the Board of Trustees; and the Building Committee. She attended the Fellowship Sunday School Class and participated with the United Methodist Women''s group.

Additionally, Ms. Williams was a life member of the National, Pennsylvania State and Franklin County Teachers Associations; and life member of Indiana University of Pennsylvania Alumni Association, and Allison-Antrim Museum, Greencastle. She also was a member of Greencastle-Antrim Loyal Daughters; was a member and Past President of Greencastle-Antrim Senior Women''s Club; tutored for the Franklin County Literacy Counsel; and Treasurer and Volunteer with the Quincy Home Auxiliary.

She is survived by sisters Pauline E. Rinehart, and Dorothy M. Whitmore and husband Bernard C., all of Chambersburg, and Janet L. Williams of Greencastle; by nieces and nephew Thelma Sanborn, Dolores VanOrman, Rita Sue Beck, Betty Jackson and Robert Whitmore; as well as several great and great, great nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Orville M. Williams and Isabel W. Hartman.

The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, Thursday, November 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Friday, 2:00 PM, with her pastor, Rev. Stacy A. Crawford officiating, Interment will follow Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ms. Williams name to her church, First United Methodist Church, PO Box 303; Old Home Week Association, PO Box 536; and Jerome King Playground Association, PO Box 2; all of Greencastle, Pennsylvania 17225.
