G. Robert "Bob" Binkley, age 76, of Venice, Florida and formerly of State Line, Pa. died on Thursday December 20, 2007 in the Venice Regional Medical Center.
Born May 24, 1931 in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Bessie (Bingaman) Gish of Greencastle, Pa. and the late George Omer Binkley.
He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg with over 36 years of service. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force Reserves. He moved to Venice, Florida 18 years ago from Greencastle. While in Venice he worked as a door greeter for the local Wal-Mart Store.
Mr. Binkley was a life member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 and a member of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373, both in Greencastle. He was a 1949 graduate of Greencastle High School. In his earlier years, he was active in the Boy Scouts. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Cave) Wynkoop.


In addition to his mother he is survived by:

One son, G. Brinton Binkley II, Chambersburg, Pa., one daughter, Roberta Hottle of Andersonville, Tennessee; step-children, Pam Thomas, Somerset, Ky., C. James DeBow, Oak Hill, Va., Debra Jones of Ashton, Illinois, James Grabowski, Jill Mauer, Kimberly Koch all of McHenry, Illinois; sisters, Angela College of Greencastle, Pa. and Doris Smith of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Also surviving are a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father and first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Bill Binkley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 29 at 10:30 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Paul A. Martin officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard will be in the Macedonia United Brethren Church Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 - 7 P.M. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Camp Sinoquipe C/O Mason Dixon Council B.S.A. 18600 Crestwood Dr. Hagerstown, Md. 21742. The Greencastle V.F.W. will hold a memorial service on Friday evening at 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
