Fred W. Myers, age 95 of 8205 Hades Church Rd. Waynesboro, PA died at 11:29 A.M. Sunday, July 29, 2012 in his home.
Born February 9, 1917 in Quincy Twp. Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late William A. and Annie C. (Hess) Myers.
Fred was a lifelong dairy farmer. He was a long time member of the Ebenezer "Guitners" United Brethren Church of Greencastle and served as the Superintendent of the Clay Hill Union Sunday School for over 50 years.
He served as a director of the Eastern State Cooperative and was a member and past president of the Greencastle-Antrim School Board from 1979-1991. Fred also served on the board of directors of the Lincoln Intermediate Unit from 1981-1991. He also was a member of the Shady Grove Ruritan Club.
He and his wife, Leola M. "Doady" (Biesecker) Myers were married on May 18, 1938 in Fayetteville. She died on August 7, 2003.
Surviving family are one son Elwood E. (wife Evelyn) Myers, Waynesboro, three grandchildren, Tony (wife Heidi) Myers, Greencastle, Chad (wife Angela) Myers, Chambersburg, Katie Myers, Greencastle, seven great-grandchildren and one brother William A. Myers, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by two brothers A. Lloyd Myers and Frank H. Myers.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 7 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Richard Mose officiating. Burial will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery Kauffman. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. and one hour before the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Ebenezer United Brethren Church 3661 Williamson Rd. Greencastle, PA 17225.
