Fred L. Lehman
Fred L. Lehman, age 95 of Greencastle, PA died early Monday morning March 30, 2015 in his home.
Born February 26, 1920 in State Line, PA, he was the son of the late Percy and Rose (McCoy) Lehman. He married Betty J. (Angle) Lehman on December 12, 1947.
He retired after 36 years employment at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg. Fred served 3 ½ years in the US Army Corps of Engineers during World War II having been in the China, Burma, India (CBI) Theatre He was a member of the Keystone BASHA- CBI Veterans Association of Harrisburg. He was a 1939 graduate of Greencastle High School.
Fred was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle, a member of the Mount Pisgah Lodge No. 443, F.& A.M. of Greencastle, member of the Greencastle Lions Club, member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 and Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post #373, both of Greencastle.
He enjoyed reading his newspaper and he made albums of newsworthy events that happened over the years.
Surviving family in addition to his wife of 67 years are two nephews and two nieces, Fred Schenck, Mary Lou Gingrich, Jay Brewer and Saylor Hummel.
Funeral services will be held on Friday April 3 at 11:00 A.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. There will be no public viewing but the family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 North Washington St. Greencastle, PA 17225.
