Franklin L. “Bud” Walck, age 88, of Kennett Square, PA, and formerly of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA. Born in Marion, PA, on June 4, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert N. and Bertha Cordell Walck.
Bud worked as an electrician, starting his career with A.G. Crunkleton and then working for J.J. Alleman and Co., Fairchild Industries, Hovey Stanter and Co., and finally IBEW Local #143, where he was a member for over 50 years. He was a member of Grace U.C.C. Church in Greencastle, PA, a lifetime member of IBEW Local #143, and the Rescue Hose Co. #1, where he was a volunteer firefighter, a 60 plus year participant in the Minstrel Show, and a faithful volunteer at the Firemen’s Carnival. Bud was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan, he enjoyed family beach trips, taking cruises with his wife, vegetable gardening, and painting; however, his most cherished time was spent with his family.
Surviving is his wife of 63 years, whom he married on November 1, 1958, Marilynn “Marley” Elliott Walck; two daughters, Pam Landis (husband Elmer) of Greencastle, PA, Dana Rogers (husband Michael) of Kennett Square, PA, and; five grandchildren, Jamie Forrester, Kevin Landis, Justin and Patrick Rogers, and Michael Wright (wife Vanessa); one great grandson, Grayson Wright; and a brother, Richard Walck (wife Joanne) of Greencastle, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Glenn, Ronald, and Jaye Walck; and four sisters, Miriam Overcash, Gladys Forney, Ruth Dawson, and Emma Swope.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 11 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 South Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Mark Ruzicka will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 2 – 4 PM and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Quincy, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Grace U.C.C. Church, 128 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, PA 17225 or to the Rescue Hose Co. #1, 842 S. Washington St., Greencastle, PA 17225.
