Frances S. York
Frances S. York, age 93 of South Carlisle St. Greencastle and formerly of Kentucky died at 9:37 A.M. Thursday, December 13, 2012 in her home.
Born December 25, 1918 in Bell County Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Foley) Sulfridge. Her husband Everett J. York died in 1995.
Frances worked in accounting having worked for a CPA business. She was a member of the West Pineville Kentucky Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and was active in missions work. After coming to Greencastle, she was a member of the Greencastle Baptist Church. Frances also enjoyed teaching and had attended Berea College in Berea, KY.
While in Kentucky, she was very generous in giving back to her community and locally she helped with the food pantry at the Greencastle Presbyterian Church.
Surviving family are one son W C York and wife Susan of Greencastle, two granddaughters Tammy Marie York of Hagerstown, Pamela Adkins and husband Shannon of Shippensburg, two great-grandchildren Brandon Lee Adkins and Cheyenne Jessica Lynn Adkins. She was preceded in death by one brother.
A memorial service will be held on Monday December 17 at 12:30 P.M. at the Greencastle Baptist Church 2377 Buchanan Trail West Greencastle with Pastor Donald Woody officiating. There will be no public viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Greencastle Baptist Church designated for the Lottie Moon Christmas offering for international missions work.
