Frances E. Benchoff

Frances E. “Fran” Benchoff, age 83, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at her home. Born May 23, 1941, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Howard G. and Ruby Grace Johnson Bear.

Fran was a 1959 graduate of the Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School. She was a homemaker most of her adult life. Fran was a member of the Greencastle Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed camping, going to yard sales, bingo, bowling, skating, swimming, and a good fire in the fire pit with her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Kelly D. Alleman (Jay) of Greencastle, PA and Kathy D. Woodal (Matt) of Greencastle, PA; three grandchildren, Stephanie Cortes (Luis), Makaylyn Paterno (Andrew), and Keylee Woodal; and a great-granddaughter, Haley Bowman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred E. Benchoff in 2022, a son, Jeffrey Benchoff in infancy, and a grandson, Steaphen Alleman.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 10 AM in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA where Pastor Andrew Paterno will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Grane Hospice, 1200 Camp Hill Bypass, Suite 205, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
