Florence Marie Barnes Miller, age 88 of Zullinger, Pa. died at 2:24 P.M. Monday November 10, 2008 in the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born April 3, 1920 in Philipsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Helen O''Neil.
She was co-owner of the former Dixie Tourist Court and Restaurant near Greencastle and the former Hotel Greencastle. She was instrumental in establishing the Greencastle Senior Citizen which she served as director until retiring in 1992.
She was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg and had also attended the Wayne Heights Brethren Church.
Marie was a former member of the Greencastle-Antrim Lioness Club. She enjoyed traveling, being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, ballroom dancing, gardening and growing roses. She graduated from the Mercersburg High School.
Her first husband, J. Orville Barnes died in 1979 and her second husband Zane A. Miller died in 2000.
Surviving family are one son, William T. "Smokey"(wife Patricia) Barnes Sr., Greencastle, two daughters, Sally A. (husband David) Sauserman and Mary June (late husband Eugene) Spadaccino, both of Chambersburg. Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday November 14 at 10:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with the Rev. Harold Walton officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7 - 9 P.M.
