Fay M. Oliver
Fay (Myers) Oliver, age 87 a resident of the Penn Hall Nursing Center Chambersburg and formerly of Greencastle, PA died at 5:35 AM Sunday February 15, 2015 in the nursing center.
Born January 28, 1928 in Antrim Township, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late H. Nelson and and Mabel (Slothour) Myers. She and her husband Kenneth E. Oliver were married on November 4, 1951. He died on November 8, 2010.
Fay helped her husband on the family dairy farm near Greencastle. She was a member of the Waynesboro Grace Brethren Church and she had taught the pre-school children’s Sunday School class. She was a member of the Franklin County Farm Women and the Greencastle Homemakers. Fay enjoyed reading, especially her Bible, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles. Fay was a 1945 graduate of Greencastle High School.
Surviving family are two sons, Dr. Alan E. (husband of Janice L.) Oliver of Greencastle, Steven C. (husband of Shelby J.) Oliver of State Line, PA, one daughter Karen A. (wife of David E.) Rotz of Chambersburg, ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Richard Myers, Max Myers and a great-grandson Walter J. Fretz.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening February 18 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle. Burial with a graveside service will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery Kauffman PA on Thursday morning February 19 at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Waynesboro Grace Brethren Church 250 Philadelphia Ave. Waynesboro, PA with Rev. Roger Myers and Rev. Timothy Clothier officiating. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Waynesboro Grace Brethren Church 250 Philadelphia Ave. Waynesboro, PA 17268.
