Ethel H. Meyers

Ethel H. Meyers, age 82 of 138 East Franklin St. Greencastle, Pa. died at 4:40 P.M. Thursday, October 15, 2009 in the Shank''s Personal Care Home, 14331 Greenview Dr. Greencastle where she has resided for the past month.

Born March 1, 1927 in Greencastle, PA., she was the daughter of the late Roy E. and Leila (Renner) Hoffman.

She had worked at the former GEM Garment, Stanley Co., ASBA Mfg. and Sylvania Shoe Co. She attended Browns Mill and Greencastle schools.
Ethel was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class and was active in many church activities.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of the Frank L. Carbaugh American Post #373 and the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post # 6319, both of Greencastle.

She and her husband, Preston C. Meyers were married on September 28, 1946 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church. He died on April 11, 2008.

Surviving family are one daughter, Sharon Centola, Long Island N.Y., two sons, Steven D. Meyers, Marion, Pa. and Shawn D. Meyers, Cape May, N.J., two sisters, Dorothy Zimmerman, Chambersburg and Edith Kitzmiller, Phoenix, AZ., six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers Elmer Hoffman and Charles D. "Red" Hoffman and a sister Mary Shaffer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday October 19 at 11:00 A.M. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 N. Washington Greencastle with Revs. Martin H. Horn and Donald M. Bohn officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Sunday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. and at the church one hour before the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Memorial Fund of Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 N. Washington St. Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
