Mrs. Ethel Kay Ross Hazel, 80 of State Line, died Tuesday afternoon, July 1, 2014, at Waynesboro Hospital. She was the wife of the late Russell Landis Hazel, Jr., who preceded her in death on July 27, 1999.
Born October 1, 1933, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, she was the only child of Edward Alexander and Martha Beggs Ross.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, State Line.
Mrs. Hazel attended and enjoyed activities with friends at Franklin County Senior Center Greencastle; enjoyed playing BINGO; and always looked forward to family time and time with lady friends.
Surviving are her daughters, Elaine K. Sherrill of Greencastle, and Susan L. Heller of Wayesboro; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth T. Hazel, in 2002; and her great grandson, Alex Hazel.
The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, on Monday, July 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 8, at 11:00 AM. Rev Frances J. Whitehurst, interim pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, State Line, will officiate. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
