Esther J. Beaver

Esther J. Beaver, age 88, of Waynesboro, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. Born March 26, 1935, in Quincy Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Helman, Sr. and Esther Ruth Henry Helman.

Mrs. Beaver was a 1953 graduate of the former Quincy High School. She worked as a homemaker and Mom during her working years. Mrs. Beaver recently joined the church family at Ebenezer United Brethren Church and was formerly a member of Clay Hill Union Sunday School, where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. She enjoyed quilting, serving as a 4-H leader for 42 years, bowling, volunteering at the New Franklin Ruritan Club, and making her famous “Grandma B’S” homemade potato chips.

Surviving is her beloved husband of 68 years, Verdeen Beaver, whom she married on March 20, 1955; three children, Freda Dorand (husband Jeff) of Chambersburg, PA, Dale O. Beaver (wife Diane) of Greencastle, PA, and Karen Goodman (husband Jeff) of Chambersburg, PA; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 8 siblings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Harold, Robert, and Shirley Helman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 11 AM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor David Grove will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 6 – 9 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Greenhill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.
