Emma M. (Eby) Shank, age 97 a resident of Menno Haven and formerly of Marion went to be with her Lord at 4:15 P.M. Monday January 18, 2010 at Menno Haven.
Born May 8, 1912 in Clear Spring, Md., she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Emma (Martin) Eby.
Emma was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers, gardening, quilting and sewing.
She was a faithful member of the Marion Mennonite Church where she taught in the children''s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, served on the sewing circle and had a heart for missions and children''s works. She and her late husband served as church custodians for over 25 years.
Emma volunteered with the Bible Release Time and while at Menno Haven she attended the Chapel services and enjoyed tending to the various indoor live plants.
She and her husband, Paul E. Shank were married on August 22, 1935. He died on July 29, 1983.
Surviving family are one son Richard D. (Husband of Judy) Shank, Marion, two daughters, Delores K. Martin, Chambersburg and Martha Bauman (Wife of Douglas) Shank, Dayton, Va., one brother Isaac Eby, Hagerstown. six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23 at 10:00 A.M. from the Marion Mennonite Church 4365 Molly Pitcher Hwy. Chambersburg with Revs. Merle Cordell, Carl Kniss and Aden Diller officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Saturday.
