Elwood R. Martin, age 87 of Clearview Ave. State Line, PA died at 3:57 AM Saturday, February 20, 2016 in the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Chambersburg where he had resided since December 23, 2015.

Born June 9, 1928 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late David L. and Rhoda (Diller) Martin. He married Eleanor K. (Keller) Martin on June 15, 1946 in Hagerstown.

Elwood retired after 40 years employment with the Nabisco Co. in Williamsport, MD. He was a member of the Macedonia United Brethren Church of Greencastle where he taught Sunday School and had served as Sunday School Superintendent for 13 years. He also was a former member of the State Line Ruritan Club and was involved in the State Line Cub Scouts.

Surviving family in addition to his wife are two sons, Larry Martin and wife Suzanne of Fayetteville, PA, Keith A. Martin and wife Camela of North Huntingdon, PA; five grandchildren Melissa Edmonds of Woodbridge, VA, Amy Martin of Manheim, PA, Laura Shatzer of Chambersburg, Ross Martin of Arlington, VA, Justin Martin of North Huntingdon, PA;  six great-grandchildren, three sisters, Isabel Bumbaugh of Maugansville, MD, Lovina Baer  and Wilma Martin both of Greencastle and one brother Warren Martin of Mercersburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Rev. Nelson Martin and two sisters Vera Kuhns and Elva Stouffer.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 23 at 11:00 AM from the Macedonia United Brethren Church 11887 Worleytown Rd. Greencastle with Rev. Milton Herrold Jr. and Rev. Gayle Ruble Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Trustee Fund of Macedonia United Brethren Church 11887 Worleytown Rd. Greencastle, PA 17225.
