Mrs. Elsie May "Betty" Breeden Waugh, 77, of Waynesboro, died late Thursday morning, January 24, 2013, at Golden Living of Hagerstown. She was the wife of Mr. Lewis Ray Waugh, her husband of 54 years.

Born December 25, 1935, in Charlottesville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Joel Washington and Mary Lee Hensley Breeden.

Betty attended school in Hancock; and retired in July, 2004, from Radio Shack Distribution Center, Hagerstown.

She attended Grace Bible Church, Greencastle; and enjoyed flower gardening and her grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Betty is survived by her daughter, Ronda Hykes and husband Timothy of Greencastle; grandchildren, Peter, Matthew and Mary Hykes; and brother, Roy Elwood Breeden and wife Iva Lou of Berkeley Springs; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Breeden.

The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, on Monday, January 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 29, at 10:00 AM. Rev. J. Herman Fisler of Grace Bible Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Waugh''s name to Special Olympics of Pennsylvania, 2570 Boulevard of the Generals, Suite 124, Norristown, Pennsylvania 19403. This charity helped her grandson, Matthew; and was a cause Betty was devoted to.
