Elsie V. Shank

Elsie V. Shank, age 99, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at her home with her family by her side. Born September 6, 1925, in Reid, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Lula Holsinger Martin.

Mrs. Shank was a homemaker most of her life, she also helped her husband on the family dairy farm for many years. She was a faithful lifetime member of Cedar Grove Mennonite Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking as well as volunteering her time at the Cumberland Valley Relief Center making comfort tops and quilting.

Surviving are three children, Shirley Fisher (husband Wayne) of St. Thomas, PA, John Shank (wife Nancy) of Smithsburg, MD, and Linda Fritz (husband Gary) of Chambersburg, PA; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Miriam Timmons of Greencastle, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Aldus Shank in 2004 and six siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 11 AM at Cedar Grove Mennonite Church 13343 Williamsport Pike, Greencastle, PA 17225, where Pastor Floyd Myers, Chaplain Tim Brown, and Pastor Randy Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the above church and address. Interment will follow the service in the adjacent church cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc. Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the church above or to the Cumberland Valley Relief Center, 4225 Molly Pitcher Hwy., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
