Elsie L. (Binkley) Koons, age 91 a resident of Menno Haven Chambersburg, Pa. and formerly of 15595 Pennsylvania Ave. North State Line, Pa. died at 10:30 P.M. Sunday May 27, 2007 in the Chambersburg Hospital. She had been in declining health for the past month.
Born August 17, 1915 in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Jacob Allen and Lillie Mae (Shank) Binkley.

She was a seamstress for 44 years at the former Stanley Co. of Chambersburg retiring in 1980. Mrs. Koons was a life member of the Trinity United Church Of Christ of State Line where she taught Sunday School and was involved in many church activities. She assisted with the public dinners held at the State Line Ruritan Building and was a former member of the Ruritan Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, crocheting needlepoint, going on bus trips and spending time with her family. She enjoyed her Menno Haven activities especially doing the word search puzzles and making afghans.
She and her husband, Jacob S. "Jake" Koons were married September 5, 1934. He died on September 22, 1996.

Surviving family are:

One Daughter, Helen Louise Koons (Wife of Dale) Gearhart of Shady Grove, Pa.

Two Sisters, Beulah Catherine Overcash, Chambersburg, Pa. and Anna Belle Reeves of Merritt Island, Florida

One granddaughter, Denise Lyn (Gearhart) Baer, Greencastle, Pa.

One great-granddaughter, Ashley Marie Baer, St. Cloud, Florida

She was preceded in death by: an infant sister Dorothea Irene Binkley, sister Frances M. Bartles, brothers Paul Leroy Binkley, Ralph William Binkley and Harold Franklin Binkley.

Funeral services will be held on Friday June 1 at 10:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, Pa. with Revs. Edwin Higginbottom, Charles E. Doll Jr. and Jerry Fuss officiating. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery Hagerstown, Md. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Annex Fund of the Trinity United Church Of Christ Of State Line P.O. Box 266 State Line, Pa. 17263.
