Elmer M. Showalter, age 84 a resident of Menno Haven in Chambersburg, Pa. for the past 1 1/2 years and formerly of Hagerstown Md. went to be with the Lord at 12:46 P.M. Friday June 15, 2007 at Menno Haven.
Born April 19, 1923 near Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Martin W. and Katie (Reiff) Showalter. In his earlier years he was a farmer and also delivered milk door to door. He retired from the General Motors Co. in Martinsburg W.Va. Following his retirement he worked at Nevin''s Furniture of Greencastle.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lurella (Lehman) Showalter who died in 1973.
Mr. Showalter was a long time member of the Salem Ridge Mennonite Church near Greencastle where he taught Sunday School and was active in many church activities. More recently, he was a member of the Calvary Mennonite Fellowship in Mt. Clinton Va. He was also involved for many years in the Mennonite Disaster Service.

His loving wife, Esther (Strite) Showalter of Hagerstown, Md., who he married on July 10, 1974.
Four children, Diane (wife of R. Larry) Martin of Waynesboro, Pa., Earl D. (Husband of Sue) Showalter of Middletown, Pa, Debbie (Wife of Blair) Dill of Coppell Texas and Lynn E. (Husband of Jeanette) Showalter of Newport News Va.
One Sister, Iva Grove of Hanover, Pa.
Two Brothers, Laban Showalter of Chambersburg, Pa. and Clarence Showalter of Hagerstown, Md.
Eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 23 at 2:00 P.M. from the Salem Ridge Mennonite Church 441 Pensinger Rd. Greencastle, Pa. with Pastors Paul Emerson, Vernon Isner and Galen Lehman officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Bald Eagle Boys Camp, 1077 Wilderness Trail Mill Hall, Pa. 17751.
