Ellis Franklin Daley, age 84 of Greencastle, PA died Tuesday morning January 2, 2018 in his home. He had been in declining health the past year and a half.
Born July 25, 1933 in Greencastle, PA, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Edna Belle (Dentler) Daley. He married his wife Betty Jane (Robinson) Daley on March 31, 1951 in Mercersburg, PA.
In his earlier years he had worked at the former Capital Bakers in Chambersburg and also at Giant Foods. He then worked for many years at Hagerstown Canteen Service. After retiring, he worked part time at the Greencastle Car Wash and at HPS Inc. of Greencastle.
He enjoyed drinking coffee, sitting on his porch, spending time with his family, gardening, watching the Redskins and Orioles games and watching Greencastle-Antrim High School Sports
Surviving family in addition to his wife are one daughter Judy A. Mentzer and husband Lauren of Greencastle, two sons, Garry L. Daley of Hagerstown, MD, Ellis E. Daley of Greencastle, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two sisters, Viola M. Plum of Menno Haven, Chambersburg and Lorraine B. Helfrick of Waynesboro, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Charles F. Daley Sr. on June 23, 2009 and by three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 6 at 11:00 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA with Rev. Leon Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Shanks Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
