Ellen L. Stine, age 96 a resident of the Quincy Retirement Village and formerly of 37 Edward Dr. Greencastle, Pa. died at 1:55 A.M. Tuesday January 11, 2011 in the nursing center.
Born February 8, 1914 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles D. and Rhoda Mae (Walleck) Kriner.
Ellen worked at the former Stanley Co. of Chambersburg. She was a member of the Grace United Church Of Christ of Greencastle where she sang on the church choir for over 50 years, served as Sunday School teacher in the Primary Dept., and was a member of the Church Guild and Quilters group.
Ellen was a former member of the Greencastle Senior Women''s Club. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, pillows and clothing and attending auction sales.
Her husband, I.J. "Ike" Stine died on December 18, 1962 and her daughter Joanna E. (Mrs. Wilton A. "Wimpy") Fetterhoff died July 26, 2001. She was the last of her immediate family. Ellen was also preceded in death by brothers John Kriner, Clarence Kriner, Orville Kriner and a sister Fannie Kriner Gift.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 14 at 2:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home in Greencastle with Pastor James Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. A viewing will be held a half hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Grace United Church Of Christ 128 E. Baltimore St. Greencastle, Pa. 17225 or to Rescue Hose Co. #1 842 S.
