Ellen I. (Sullivan) Dunbar, age 76, a resident of ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg, Pa. and formerly of 735 Ryan Lane Greencastle, Pa. died at 5:50 A.M. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in the nursing home.
Born, April 22, 1932 in Greenville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late June and Plummer (Luster) Sullivan.
Mrs. Dunbar worked for Jewel Electronics while living in Manchester New Hampshire. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Mrs. Dunbar was a life member of the NAACP and a member of the A.A.R.P. She was a graduate of Greenville S.C. High School and she enjoyed cooking.
She and her husband, Elmer Dunbar Sr. were married October 31, 1947 in Greenville S.C.
Surviving family in addition to her husband are:
Two Sons, Allen Dunbar of Agawam, Massachusetts and Elmer Dunbar Jr. of Prospect, Kentucky
Two sisters, Marie Jackson of Philadelphia Pa. and Molly Cureton of Greenville, S.C.
Twelve grandchildren and Four great-grandchildren
Several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by: two daughters, Shirley Ann Jackson and Clover Dunbar, sisters, Thomasena Cruel and Polly Washington, brothers, A.C. Sullivan and David Sullivan.
Funeral services will be held on Monday February 16 at 10:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Walter Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle, Pa. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6 - 8 P.M.
