Elizabeth Eshleman Martin, age 96 of Menno Haven Chambersburg died at 8:30 A.M. Friday January 29, 2010 in Menno Haven.

Born July 13, 1913 in Marion, Pa., she was the daughter of the late J. Ira and Nora (Cordell) Eshleman.

Elizabeth was an active member of the Salem Ridge Mennonite Church of Greencastle where she attended sewing circle and taught Sunday School. Before moving to the Village Square at Menno Haven in 2000, she lived in Marion for 66 years

Elizabeth was a business woman and together with her late husband owned and operated the E.L.M. Department Store in Greencastle. She enjoyed volunteering at Menno Haven, reading, music, sewing and in her later years doing jigsaw puzzles.

Elizabeth was a 1931 graduate of Greencastle High School. She and her husband, the Rev. Norman H. Martin were married July 13, 1933. He died on March 16, 1985.

Surviving family are two sons Lester E. (Wife Ruth) Martin, Greencastle, N. Harold (Wife Charlotte), Greencastle, two daughters Frances H. Diller, Chambersburg, Lorraine E. (Husband Donald) Eby, Chambersburg, 18 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law John H. Diller, sister Louise (Mrs. David) Lehman, two brothers Charles Eshleman and John Eshleman.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 3 at 11:00 A.M. from the Marion Mennonite Church 4365 Molly Pitcher Hwy. Chambersburg with Revs. Robert Keener, Merle Cordell and Joe Martin officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Omar Martin Benevolent Fund at Menno Haven, 2075 Scotland Ave. Chambersburg, PA. 17201.
