Edna L. Evitts
Edna Louise (Carbaugh) Evitts, age 84 a resident of the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehabilitation Center of Chambersburg and formerly of Clayhill Road Chambersburg died at 9:15 PM Thursday, May 15, 2014 in the nursing center.
Born August 22, 1929 in Greencastle, PA she was the daughter of the late Earl S. and Mary J. (Sampson) Carbaugh. Her husband Enoch Evitts died April 25, 1997.
Edna was a homemaker and in her earlier years she worked at the former GEM Garment in Greencastle and other local garment & shoe factories. She did babysitting service in her home for many years.
Surviving family are one daughter Judy Gelwicks and husband Dean of Chambersburg, two granddaughters Emily Gelwicks and Lucy Gelwicks of Chambersburg, one sister Earlean Short of Shippensburg, six brothers Ralph Carbaugh of Clay Hill, PA, David R. Carbaugh of Fayetteville, PA, Eugene “Gene” Carbaugh, Guy E. Carbaugh, Harold Carbaugh, all of Greencastle, Richard “Rick” Carbaugh of State Line and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers Paul, Frank, Harry, Kenneth and infant brother Elwood Carbaugh.
Funeral services will be held on Monday May 19 at 11:00 AM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Gayle L. Ruble Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Monday.
