E. Martin Bair

Ellis Martin Bair, age 77 of Warm Spring Rd. Chambersburg, PA died unexpectedly at 9:47 AM Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in the emergency room of the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born December 29, 1935 in Saxton, PA, he was the son of the late Charles McKinley and Sarah Jane Bair. He also was an adopted son of the late Aaron and Clara Meyers.

Martin married Louisa J. (Kennedy) Bair in July 1956. He was a retired carpenter. Martin was a member of the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church near Mercersburg. He served as a pulpit supply pastor for seven years at several local churches.

He enjoyed going to the local gas and steam engine shows, playing his guitar and gardening.

Surviving family in addition to his wife are one son Mark Bair of Chambersburg, one grandson Timothy Bair and friend Lindsay Whitelock, both of Chambersburg,  two brothers, Ralph J. Bair of Huntingdon, PA, Sharon Hunsberger of Philadelphia, PA and  one foster sister Edith Lesher of Greencastle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2 at 11:00 AM from the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church 6727 Montgomery Church Rd. Mercersburg with Pastor Robert Crider officiating.   The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 – 11:00 AM.  Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his name to the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church 6727 Montgomery Church Rd. Mercersburg, PA 17236.
