On the 19th of September 2017, Dr. James H. Craig Jr. died at his home in Greencastle, PA. Born January 16, 1934, he was the son of the late James H. Craig Sr. and Annabel ( McLaughlin) Craig. Jim was a native son of Greencastle, and practiced family dentistry in town for 40 years, from October 1962 to 2002, at 45 North Carlisle St. and at 204 South Washington Street.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Julie Snyder Craig and two children, James H. Craig III, Waynesboro, PA and Karen Craig Ryland (John), Cooperstown, NY and two step-grandchildren, Abigail and Timothy Ryland. His sister, Julia Craig Baldwin of Providence, RI and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.

Dr. Craig was a 1951 graduate of Greencastle High School, a 1952 graduate of The Mercersburg Academy and a 1956 graduate of  Franklin & Marshall College. He received his doctorate in Dentistry from Temple University in 1960.

Following dental school, he served two years in the US Army Dental Corps in Korea and at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Dr. Craig was also a Lt. Colonel in the Air National Guard, where he served as the base dental surgeon at Harrisburg from 1972-1992.

Dr. Craig was a lifelong member of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder and Trustee. He was an aficionado of local history and was closely involved with the Allison-Antrim Museum in Greencastle, serving on its board of directors since its founding. He was also a member of the board of directors of the former First National Bank of Greencastle. He also was a member of  several other  organizations including the Kittochtinny Historical Society , Conococheague Institute, The Greencastle American Legion And  Greencastle V.F.W., Rescue Hose Co. No.1, Mt. Pisgah Masonic Lodge #443, The Williamsburg Foundation and The American Dental Association.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23 at 11:00 AM at the Greencastle Presbyterian Church, 57 West Baltimore Street, Greencastle, PA with Rev Doug Beltzner officiating.
