Douglas S. Ryan, age 75 of Greencastle, Pa. and formerly of Hagerstown, Md. went to be with his Maker at 12:25 P.M. Wednesday, March 21, 2007 in his home.

Born April 10, 1931 in Magnolia, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Alfred Millard and Alta LaVern (Shock) Ryan.
He had retired from Mack Truck of Hagerstown and was currently employed by Direct Mail Processors of Hagerstown. Mr. Ryan graduated from Oldtown High School in Oldtown, Md. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force having served four years in the Pacific Theater during the Korean Conflict and also served two years in the navy reserves.

Doug was currently a member of the Maugansville Bible Brethren Church of Maugansville, Md. where he enjoyed serving as an usher. He was previously an elder and Sunday school teacher at Orchard Ridge First Church of God in Hancock, Md.

Doug was a member of the American Legion Post #42 of Hagerstown and had served as a board member in the 1970''s at Heritage Academy of Hagerstown.
Doug found great enjoyment in vacationing with his family, fishing trips, studying Bible prophesy, serving his church and witnessing for his Savior Jesus Christ.

He and his wife, Ruby Inez (Weber) Ryan were married May 14, 1955.

Surviving family in addition to his wife of 51 years are, one son Douglas Scott Ryan and daughter-in-law Doneta Wingert Ryan, one granddaughter, Courtney Dawn Ryan and one Grandson Grant Douglas Ryan, all of Greencastle, Pa. one brother Millard Wayne Ryan of Oldtown, Md., one aunt Sadie Hitt, Louisville, Ky., and also a number of brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a sister Erma Jean Anslinger.

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 26 at 10:30 A.M. from the Maugansville Bible Brethren Church 17904 Binkley Ave. Maugansville, Md. with Pastors John Hoffman, Richard Heckman and Sean Coffey officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Hospice Of The Good Shepherd 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, Pa. 17201 or to the Building Fund of Maugansville Bible Brethren Church 17904 Binkley Ave. Maugansville, Md. 21767.
