Douglas Alan “Doug” Albert, age 50, of Greencastle, PA and formerly of Allentown, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the University of MD Hospital in Baltimore, MD after injuries sustained in a biking accident. Born October 2, 1974, in Easton, PA he was the son of the late Russell S. and Leona M. Purdy Albert, Jr.
Doug was a 1992 graduate of Wilson Area High School. He was currently working at Ingram Industries in Chambersburg as their Director of Operations, where he had 17 years of combined service between the Allentown and Chambersburg Facilities. An adventurist spirit and avid outdoorsman, Doug loved hiking, camping, hunting and fishing. He and his wife, Shana completed 550 miles of the Appalachian Trail, hiking from Virginia to Connecticut, with hopes of completing the entire tract. Most important to Doug was his family, he cherished time in the outdoors with them. Doug also loved to watch and cheer on his beloved Phillies. Notably, Doug took amazing photos while hiking the outdoors and at one point had over 26K followers on his Instagram account.
Surviving is his wife of 24 years, Shana Wigder Albert, whom he married May 21, 2000; five children, Joshua A. Harris of Chicago, IL, Jonathon C. Harris of Chicago, IL, Austin J. Landis (wife Samantha) of Schnecksville, Pa, Hannah R. Albert (Michael Jano) of Whitehall, PA, and Riley H. Albert of Greencastle, PA; a grandson, Jackson B.. Landis, with another grandson, Oliver on the way; two siblings, Russ Albert (wife Tina) of Lebanon, PA and Steven Albert (wife Marilyn) of New Haven, CT; numerous nieces and nephews; and his in laws, Ellen Osher and Robert Prichard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father in law, Harry Wigder. His Mother in Law, Sandy Wigder lives in Easton, PA.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 2 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where his brother, Russ Albert will officiate. The family will receive friends and family at 12 PM in the funeral home for visitation. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website at www.zimmermanfh.com.
